We wanted to update you on how we’re using Artificial Intelligence (AI) at Keener Financial Planning. As we evaluate potential uses of AI, we consider these factors:
- We are not willing to compromise on providing the highest quality, personalized advice that you count on.
- Protecting your personal and financial information from cybersecurity risks is one of the most important duties we have.
- Because the fees for our financial planning services are based on how much time we expect to spend working on your plan, us working efficiently and making full use of technology is in your best interest as a client.
Based on these considerations, we’ve started using AI in a number of different ways.
This spring, we reviewed the security protocols, functionality, and accuracy of multiple AI notetakers. We selected Zocks. Zocks does not record meetings, so it’s like another participant listening and generating a summary for us. Zocks can join us on zoom, in person, or on a phone call. If we were to mention an account number or social security number in the meeting, Zocks is programmed to redact it from all summaries. Data captured by Zocks is never used in training the large language model (LLM). It’s SOC2 certified and HIPAA compliant. We continue to work with Zocks on improving our meeting templates so we get summaries with just the right amount of information – not too detailed and nothing missing. And we review all the summaries to ensure that we’re only entering accurate information into our records.
We’ve also used AI in other ways. It’s helped us improve some of our reporting that doesn’t include any client-specific data. And, like you probably have, too, we’ve used it to write first drafts of email responses. We didn’t use it for writing this blog, but maybe we should have.
There are also a lot of AI uses that we’re rejecting. We never enter any client data in any form in a public AI tool. We also don’t allow public AI tools to summarize client documents for us.
We’re excited about the potential of AI and fully harnessing it to provide the best possible financial advice for you. And we’re going to proceed purposefully to ensure that your privacy and security are protected. Please reach out to us with any questions.
